Regardless of whether you are having a church or civil ceremony there are lots of opportunities to make your day extra specal a memorable one for everyone present.
On arrival you may decide to be greeted by an Highland Piper especially if the groom is wearing a kilt and have the musician play whilst signing the register. Alternatively if the ceremony is at an historic castle or stately home you may choose to have Medieval Minstrels. Or you may decide to have your guests entertained prior to the ceremony and during the signing of the register by a Harpist, String Quartet, Vocalist, Spanish Guitarist, Saxophonist, Organ Music or even a Gospel Choir. The Gospel Choir may even be possible at a civil ceremony as many hae a non religeous repertoire for such events.
Many couples entertain their guests throughout the day, incluing whilst they are eating; but remember the music needs to allow for freinds and family to be able to talk and be background music only, such as that suplied by a Harpist, String Quartet, Vocalist, Guitarist, Pianist or Jazz Band. A further option would be a Magician, Balloon Artist, Comedian, Caricturist or Clown to entertain the children, many couples even consider having a childrens Magician, Face Painter or even a Bouncing Castle and Creche.
The majority of evening receptions last for at least 4 hours and some even longer, it is the longest part of the day and the part that will have the greatest impression on your guests having the largest number often present, yet sadly this often has the least attention to detail.
It is important to establish what type of atmosphere you wish to portray. You may wish the evening to go with a bang and have a lively band or DJ, alternative you may wish something more refined or a mixture of the two.
A mobile disco is often seen as a cost effective form of entertainment as they have the ability to play a wid range of music to suit all ages and guests and personalise the music to your tastes. Aim to negotiate prior to the evening the type of music and lighting you wish to have and the volume at which it is to be played. Some more out-going individuals may prefer a karioke.
A great band whether playing jazz, soul, pop, blues, rock'n roll or folk for a celidh can really entertain your guests but remember they will need a break, many are able to offer DJ services during the break giving you the best of both worlds.
Remember when booking your wedding you need to check if the venue has a sound limiter an electronic device which cuts the power to the performers equipment if the sound exceeds a pre-set level. Whether the bar is in a separate room so that individuals may not hear the entertainment, although this can work both ways as some individuals may wish to have a few quiet moments.
The choice is yours depending upon yours and your guests taste in music.
To avoid disappointment always book early and preferably as soon as you’ve chosen your evening venue. Then just relax and enjoy the evening and dance to the music.
