Wedding Stationery

Wedding stationery needs to be chosen as carefully as the rest of your wedding. The type of invitations you choose will give the guests a clue to the style of your wedding.

Many couples prefer printed stationery but for a less formal affair some choose to hand write or print their own, but the choice is yours.

There is an enormous selection to choose from, attending Wedding Fayre can give you the opportunity to see many different albums at once, most good wedding stationers will allow you to take the albums home with you and to choose in the comfort of your own home.

There are numerous decisions to be made when choosing your wedding stationery:

  • What sort of paper or card do you want it printed on?
  • What design?
  • Which colour for the inslips
  • Which type face do you prefer
  • What artwork or embellishment if any do you require
  • Who will be inviting the guests – the couple or parents
  • What address will you be using for the reply
  • Do you wish to state a date by which replies must be received
  • Will you be providing a reply card
  • Will you have a calligrapher write the cards out

There is no point in ordering your stationery until you have made a guest list. Allow one invitation per family and then a few extra to cover any mistakes or last minute additions to the guest list.

Make sure you give all the correct details. Double check dates, times and names in particular, as it is easy to make mistakes.

Details for the Order of Service should be checked with your clergyman and a car provided for him before the wedding day. Always send a Photostat copy of the hymns you require to your printer, as there are so many different variations of each hymn. There should be copies for every couple and a few extras for any friends who might turn up at the wedding.

Many couples also have separate invitations printed for the evening reception. Others personalised stationery available for weddings include; acceptance cards, place cards, match books, serviettes, serviette rings, book marks and cake boxes.

Thank-you cards are also a nice finishing touch and remember these are also available from your photographer with a personalised photograph of the couple.
