Val Bacon LBIPP of Ariginal Photography who has a studio based in Ripley and an office in Swanwick received her license in July, 1999 making her a qualified member of the British Institute of Professional Photography from Nickolas Grace at the rewards ceremony at The Hanover International Hotel. Val studied full-time for two years at Nottingham College and holds a National Diploma in photography.

Val has now photographed weddings for over 4 years and has developed her own style of natural candid photography giving a mixture of colour and black and white photographs, without loosing on quality for colour work. She always uses medium format giving an extra delight to her work. She designs each wedding with the couple in mind aiming to achieve exactly what they want from their wedding day, often giving a story book of the day as it unfolds. Val only ever undertakes one wedding per day and believes in having fun on your day giving happy relaxed photographs. Often with a mixture of colour and black and white and if it is a sunny day you may request infra-red photography, but it is your choice as it is your special day.

Digital photography is still in its infancy, but should you wish Val can photograph your wedding digitally and provide proofs on CD also she can undertake to watercolour, line draw or manipulate your images to whatever form you wish. As an integral part of her studies in photography Val trained in computer imagery and is as comfortable behind a desk top as behind a camera.

Recently her son Christopher has joined the business and he often accompanies Val taking the candid Black & White photographs. Chris is very artistic and studied at a Steiner Institute well know for their artistic interpretations.

The BIPP was founded in 1901 and represents over 3000 professional photographers and photographic technicians. It has specialists like Val in every photographic discipline. Val’s specialist subject is Wedding Photography.

The BIPP qualifications system is widely recognised as being the finest in the world and every member is bound by the Institute’s CODE OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT. A BIPP member can be recognised by the designatory letters after their name. Val now has the honour of using LBIPP after her name. These are not the only letters Val has after her name as she is also a qualified nurse, her previous profession and has RGN and NDN after her name. Val says she much prefers photography nowadays though, but aims to put the same professionalism into her work as she had when she was a  District Nursing Sister.
